The experience

How a production day works

A free planning call, one calm day in their kitchen, and a finished film in your inbox.

Step 1, before the shoot

A free virtual planning call

We talk it through before anyone picks up a camera: which recipe to film, the story behind it, what the kitchen looks like, and what your loved one needs to prepare. The call is unhurried, free, and carries no obligation. It's also where we start on the stories behind the dish, so they're ready when the camera rolls.

You'll also get simple food-styling and setup guidance so the kitchen looks and feels like itself, just camera-ready.

Step 2, production day

They cook. We film.

A small and mighty creative team arrives, sets up quietly, and films your loved one making the recipe from start to finish, measured in their hands rather than scripted. Depending on your package the day runs 2 to 4 hours, covering one, two, or three recipes.

There is space for the stories that come with the dish, the parts a recipe card can never capture.

Step 3, after the shoot

A polished 4K film, on a clear timeline

Every clip is edited into a keepsake-quality film of about 4 to 5 minutes per recipe, color graded, sound mixed, and paced to be watched again. Turnaround depends on your package: 7 days for a single recipe, 10 for two, and 14 for the three-recipe collection.

Optional YouTube channel hosting is available if you want to share beyond the family.

What every film covers

More than the recipe.

Each film runs about 4 to 5 minutes and tells the story behind the dish.

01

Where it came from

The history of the recipe and the people who passed it down.

02

Why it matters

What this dish means to your family and the moments it has marked.

03

What changed, and what didn't

How the recipe has shifted over the years, and the parts that stay exactly the same.

04

What they hope you remember

In the cook's own words: what they'd like the family to think of whenever they make it.

Putting them at ease

It isn't a performance.

Nerves are common, and they usually fade within the first few minutes once someone is simply doing something familiar. We keep the team small, plan the day with you in advance, and let the cooking lead.

Most of the direction happens before filming, so the day itself feels natural rather than scripted.

What to prepare

  • Choose the recipe, and the handwritten card or notes if there are any.
  • Have the ingredients and the usual cookware on hand.
  • Think of a story or two that goes with the dish.
  • Tell us who else might join in the kitchen.

The planning call covers everything else.
